Laser Adventure" Range Finder Applet
Laser range Finder
This applet enable you to see a soldier measuring the
range to a tank.
The theory of operation of a laser range finder appears in
section
9.3.1. You must always remember that here
this is only a simulation, therefor the speed of light is reduced
to …, to enable you to follow its path. In reality it is impossible to
see the advancement of a laser pulse (due to it velocity, and the fact
that in order to see, light must reach your eyes - scattered from something
along its way).
Instructions:

Position the tank
on the background with a click on
the left button of the mouse. The mouse position is the
new position of the tank.

Send a laser pulse
to the target with a click on the
right button of the mouse.
The system will measure the time
it takes the laser pulse to advance to the tank and reflected
back, and you will see this time under the picture. The system will also
calculate
the distance, and show it to you.

Measure few ranges to tanks at different points on the background.
