Parallax
Parallax
is the relative position of the
bodies in the picture, as seen from different points of view.
Looking at a 3-D scene with two
eyes creates two different images one in each eye.
As can be seen in figure 10p1:

The far object is seen by the left eye to the left of the near object.

The far object is seen by the right eye to the right of the near object.

Our brain is "trained" to interpret these two views
of the same scene as depth in the picture.
In a hologram, each
point on the hologram contains information about a different point of view
of the scene.
