Standard Component Holder

In Israeli high schools, optics experiments were based on a standard component holder, made of wood or plastic (as seen in figure 1).

Picture 1: standard holder for optics component

This holder is simple and easy to use, the optical component (slide, lens, mirror etc.) is put inside the grooves, and the rubber band fixes it in place.

The problem starts when precise measurements are tried, especially when a number of components have to be aligned into one system.

This simple component holder is held in place by its own weight, and any movement of the table, or a touch on the holder, cause a change in position.
