Number of Possible Modes

From example 4.1 we see that for signals in the visible spectrum, the mode number m is very High, of the order of millions (!).

In example 4.2 it can be seen for Helium Neon laser which is common in science laboratories at school.

Actually, it will be explained (in chapter 5) that not all possible modes according to the formula will appear in the laser beam, but there are more limiting conditions.
